Trip Coordinator Procedure
Step one: Read the handbook.
Thanks for helping lead/coordinate club trips. Club trips are the backbone to our section. They are a great way to meet more people and develop mountain skills. Before booking a trip please be sure to familiarize yourself with the Leader Handbook. You are not expected to read the entire book, however it is important to familiarize yourself with the sections that are applicable to your trip.
All trips are required to have ACC waivers signed before each trip.
Step Two: Submit a Trip
Trip coordinators should use the "Trip Coordinator Submission Form"to submit a trip.
Step Three: Verify Trip has been added
Information is automatically posted to the club event calendar. Please use GOOGLE CHROME as your browser when working with the trip calendar as other browsers do not load the pages properly.
Step four: Edit Trip if Needed
To update or delete a trip you will need to contact our clubs communications director for assistance and changes will be made.
Step Five: Organize Trip
Participants will email/call you to ask to join your trip. You can decide which participants best suite your trip and group. Ensure participants have appropriate gear/skills for the trip.
Step Six: Sign Waivers
All participants including trip organizer must sign a waiver before the event. Typically in the parking lot before hitting the trail.
Step Seven: Have Fun and Thank you!

Avalanche reports
The Section currently has some gear that can be borrowed from the Section Chair (i.e., first aid kit, group shelter, ropes, base-camp stoves, avalanche transceiver). Please contact the chair to borrow this gear.
If participants do not have certain gear (e.g., tents, harnesses), members may be able to rent them from shops in Calgary.
Trip Coordinator Rewards Program
The Southern Alberta ACC will sometimes offer discounted course or camp subsidies for active trip leaders. An active trip leader is someone who has organized and executed 3 events within the fiscal year. Fill out your trip submittal forms before Oct 15 to be credited. All eligible trip coordinators who have lead trips and activities this fiscal year will be announced and awarded at this year's Annual General Meeting (late Oct/early Nov). Further details can be discussed by contacting one of the executives.
